The calculator updates your estimated score instantly.
It is useful for candidates who want to know where they may stand before the official STI Merit List 2026 is released.
Quick Note: This calculator gives an estimated merit score. It is not an official Punjab Government merit calculator. Final merit is prepared after document verification and according to the rules applied by the concerned recruitment authority.
How to Use the STI Merit Calculator
Using the calculator is simple.
You only need your academic record.
Step 1: Enter Matric Marks
Enter your exact obtained marks and total marks from your Matric result card.
For example:
Obtained Marks: 880
Total Marks: 1100
The calculator automatically converts your marks into a percentage and calculates your estimated Matric contribution.
Do not enter your percentage directly.
Always use the actual marks printed on your certificate.
Step 2: Enter Intermediate Marks
Add your Intermediate obtained marks and total marks.
This can include FA, FSc, ICS or another recognized Intermediate qualification depending on your academic record.
For example:
Obtained Marks: 850
Total Marks: 1100
The calculator will calculate the percentage automatically.
Step 3: Enter Your Highest Relevant Degree
The next section carries the largest weight in this calculator.
Choose between:
Marks
or
CGPA
Use the option shown on your degree or transcript.
If your university gives marks, enter obtained and total marks.
If your university uses CGPA, select the CGPA option.
Example:
CGPA: 3.20
Scale: 4.00
The calculator converts the CGPA ratio into an estimated percentage automatically.
Step 4: Select Your Professional Qualification
Select whether you have a professional teaching qualification such as:
B.Ed
or
M.Ed
The current calculator gives 10 marks for the professional qualification field.
If you do not have B.Ed or M.Ed, choose None.
Step 5: Enter Expected Interview Marks
The interview section carries up to 5 marks.
If your interview has not taken place yet, you can leave this field empty or enter a realistic expected score.
For example:
3.5 out of 5
You can change this value anytime to see how it affects your estimated final merit.
STI Merit Formula Used in This Calculator
The calculator currently uses the following estimated structure:
| Merit Component | Weight |
|---|---|
| Matric / SSC | 15 |
| Intermediate / HSSC | 15 |
| Highest Relevant Degree | 55 |
| B.Ed / M.Ed | 10 |
| Interview | 5 |
| Total | 100 |
The current 2026-27 recruitment is being carried out under the STI Program 2024 framework. However, a separate detailed 2026-27 merit weightage document has not been publicly confirmed in the same clear format. For this reason, this tool should be treated as an STI merit estimator, not an official result.
How STI Merit Is Calculated
Each academic section uses a simple percentage-based calculation.
The basic formula is:
Obtained Marks ÷ Total Marks × Weight
For example, if you have:
880 marks out of 1100 in Matric
Your percentage is:
80%
Matric carries 15 marks in the calculator.
So:
80% × 15 = 12 marks
Your estimated Matric merit contribution becomes:
12 out of 15
The same method is used for Intermediate and your highest relevant degree.
STI Merit Calculation Example
Here is a simple example.
Suppose a candidate has the following record:
| Qualification | Record |
|---|---|
| Matric | 880 / 1100 |
| Intermediate | 825 / 1100 |
| BS Degree | 3.20 / 4.00 CGPA |
| B.Ed | Yes |
| Interview | 4 / 5 |
Matric
880 ÷ 1100 = 80%
80% of 15 = 12.00
Intermediate
825 ÷ 1100 = 75%
75% of 15 = 11.25
BS Degree
3.20 ÷ 4.00 = 80%
80% of 55 = 44.00
B.Ed
Professional qualification = 10 marks
Interview
Expected interview score = 4 marks
Estimated Final Merit
12 + 11.25 + 44 + 10 + 4 =
81.25 / 100
The calculator would show this as a strong estimated score.
However, 81.25 does not guarantee selection.
Your actual position depends on the official merit process and the candidates competing for the same vacancy.
What Does Your Estimated STI Merit Score Mean?
Our calculator groups scores into simple ranges to help candidates understand the result.
80 to 100 — Very Strong Estimate
A score of 80 or above is a strong academic estimate.
It may place you in a competitive position, but it is not an official cutoff.
You still need to wait for the official school-wise merit list.
70 to 79.99 — Strong Estimate
This is also a good estimated score.
Your chances can depend heavily on the school, subject and number of applicants.
60 to 69.99 — Moderate Estimate
A score in this range may still be competitive for some vacancies.
Do not assume that you are out of the selection process.
Competition is not the same at every school.
Below 60 — Lower Estimate
A lower estimated score does not automatically mean rejection.
If fewer candidates apply to a particular school or vacancy, the final merit situation may be different.
These ranges are only guidance used by our calculator. They are not official STI cutoffs.
Is There a Fixed STI Merit Cutoff?
No single Punjab-wide STI merit cutoff should be assumed.
STI vacancies are linked with individual schools and available positions.
This means your competition may depend on:
- Selected school
- Available vacancy
- Subject
- Number of applicants
- Academic record of other applicants
- Professional qualification
- Interview score
- Final document verification
A candidate with a certain merit score may rank differently at two different schools.
This is why your calculated score should be used as an estimate, not as a guarantee of selection.
Current STI guidance also notes that school-level competition can affect the final merit position.
Should I Enter BA and MA Separately?
No.
In this calculator, you should enter your highest relevant degree in the degree section.
For example:
If you have both BA and MA and your MA is the relevant higher qualification, use your MA record.
If you have a 4-year BS degree, enter your BS marks or CGPA.
Do not combine multiple degrees into one marks field.
How to Enter CGPA in the STI Merit Calculator
If your degree uses CGPA, select the CGPA option.
Then enter:
Your CGPA
and
Maximum CGPA scale
For example:
Your CGPA: 3.25
Scale: 4.00
The calculator will calculate:
3.25 ÷ 4.00 × 100
which equals:
81.25%
That percentage is then used to estimate the degree portion of the merit.
Do not enter:
3.25 out of 100
because that will give an incorrect result.
What If My Degree Uses a Different CGPA Scale?
The calculator currently supports common CGPA scales such as:
4.00
and
5.00
Choose the scale shown on your official transcript.
If your university uses a special conversion formula, follow the conversion or percentage information printed by your university where applicable.
Do not use a random online CGPA conversion if your university provides its own official percentage or conversion rule.
Does B.Ed Add Marks to STI Merit?
The calculator currently gives a 10-mark professional qualification component where B.Ed or M.Ed is selected.
Professional teaching education can be relevant in STI selection because the program considers academic and professional qualifications.
However, candidates should always check the latest recruitment instructions for the vacancy they are applying for.
If you do not have B.Ed or M.Ed, simply select None.
You can still calculate your academic estimate.
Does Teaching Experience Add Merit Marks?
This calculator does not add a fixed score for previous teaching experience.
Teaching experience may be useful during the recruitment process or where preference rules apply, but we do not add marks unless a clear fixed numerical weight is available.
This avoids giving candidates an inflated or misleading score.
How Many Marks Are Given for the STI Interview?
This calculator reserves 5 marks for the interview.
If you have not attended the interview yet, you can:
- Leave it empty
- Enter 0
- Enter an expected score such as 3 or 4
Try different values to understand how the interview can change your final estimate.
The interview is a small part of the total score, but even one or two marks may matter when several candidates have similar academic merit.
Does a High Merit Score Guarantee STI Selection?
No.
A high calculator score does not mean that you are officially selected.
Final selection may depend on:
document verification
school-wise merit
vacancy availability
subject requirement
interview
and other rules applied by the concerned authority.
The official STI Merit List 2026 is the final source for your actual selection status.
Why Is My Calculator Result Different From Another Website?
You may see different STI calculators online.
This can happen because some websites use:
- old STI policies
- different recruitment phases
- different academic weightages
- incorrect formulas
- outdated merit structures
There are already older STI pages online showing formulas that differ significantly from the structure currently being used by newer 2026 calculators. This is one reason candidates should avoid treating any unofficial calculator as an official merit list.
Our calculator clearly shows the formula it uses so you can understand how the result was produced.
Common Mistakes When Using the STI Merit Calculator
Entering Percentage Instead of Marks
If your Matric result says:
880 / 1100
enter:
880 and 1100
Do not enter 80 and 100 unless those are actually the marks shown on your result.
Using the Wrong Total Marks
Older boards and different qualifications may have different total marks.
Always use the total printed on your own certificate.
Entering CGPA as Marks
If your transcript says:
3.2 / 4.0
use the CGPA mode.
Do not enter 3.2 as obtained marks against 100.
Adding More Than One Highest Degree
Use your highest relevant qualification in the degree section.
Do not add BA and MA together.
Assuming Full Interview Marks
Do not automatically enter 5 out of 5 unless you are only testing the maximum possible score.
For a realistic pre-interview estimate, leave it empty or try different possible scores.
How to Use Your Estimated Merit Result
Your result can help you understand your academic position before the official merit list.
For example, you can use it to:
- Estimate your total merit
- Compare different interview scores
- Check the effect of B.Ed or M.Ed
- Understand your academic contribution
- Prepare for the merit list stage
- Avoid calculation mistakes
It should not be used to decide that you are officially selected or rejected.
What Happens After the STI Application?
After applications close, the recruitment moves toward merit lists and selection.
Candidates should watch for:
Initial Merit List
Complaint or objection period
Interview
Final Merit List
Selection and joining
The official merit list is more important than any calculator estimate.
